Hyatt Singapore Magician

Easter brunch was packed with almost 400 guests. I did some overtime to cover more tables and focused on groups of at least 6. Great thing is that most of the tables were requests meaning people asked me to come and perform for them which makes it easier and audience is very receptive. Also some friends of mine came over for the brunch which was a lot of fun and I managed some free beers for them – after all they are German…Tomorrow I am of for a trip to Japan for almost 2 weeks. A couple of Cities in Kyushu and Tokyo.

Magician Hyatt Singapore

Full House yesterday at the Hyatt. Over 300 guests for the brunch. Something funny happened at the end of the brunch. A Lady came up to me and thanked me for the great brunch, the service and commented on the food. I was sure that I didn’t perform at their table but she went on to compliment. I realized that she thought I am part to the management. Well I don’t wear a costume when I perform but a business suit. I just played along and thanked her and said we hope to see her again soon.

Entertainer for Corporate Event

Apr 11 Lexmark Entertainer for corporate event

Lexmark engaged me to perform at the Lexmark Asia Pacific 2013 Achiever Awards Night. I did 25 minute stage show. We had the objective to transit from the show directly to the Award presentation. I created a prediction effect in which a person from the audience chose freely one of the 15 awardees. I had an envelope in full view from the beginning of the show and it contained a paper with that name. I announced the name the Emcee came up and took over the rest of the presentation. For an event like this it is important that a magician, corporate entertainer focuses on the main objective (incorporation of the Award theme in the show) as much as he focuses on the show. As hard as it is some times the entertainment is not the main part of the event.

Entertainment Corporate Event

Apr 9 Deloitte entertainment corporate event strolling magic

My friend Picasso hired me to perform at a Deloitte corporate event at the Ritz Carlton.  I did 2 hours of strolling magic and shared the gig with Adam Chua a great caricaturist. You can check out his website here . We have worked together at multiple events before but I always forget to ask him to draw a caricature of me. Well, maybe next time. The group consisted of mainly Deloitte tax consultants from all over the world. Not surprisingly I found a bunch of Germans there. Germany has one of the most complicated Tax Laws worldwide and to do your taxes you definitely need a consultant. I prefer Singapore – I can do it on my own.

Magicians Grand Hyatt

Sometimes you face ‘tough’ customers when you do a regular performance especially in a Restaurant. Yesterday the management asked if I could go to a table which was not to satisfied with the service. I believe the important thing in a case like this is not to focus on the entertainment but on the conversation with the guests and most of the time you find something that you have in common with them. Yesterday it was easy for me because the table was German and one Gentleman was from my region. This made the whole thing much easier. I chatted with them for a while and we had some laughs even with performing a single trick. I did then only one strong effect for them and invited them to come back. I believe they had a good time after all and hopefully forgot about the thing they were not to happy about earlier.

Corporate Entertainment

Apr 1 Unigroup corporate event

Unigroup engaged my corporate entertainment services for the partner event at the Boathouse in Singapore. I performed 2 hours of strolling magic 1st on the rooftop during the cocktail reception and then at the tables during the dinner in between courses. The group was very diverse with people from Singapore, Taiwan, Germany, Australia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Belgium, and England… It is interesting to see how different nationalities react to magic entertainment. The good thing is – magic it is truly cross-cultural corporate entertainment and I have never met a country/nationality that could not relate to it. Even though the spectator and I don’t speak the same language they still understand what is going on. Performing for groups like this is for me the highlight of the performance since the reactions are very different e.g. from a local Singaporean Chinese to a Japanese or French person.
