Magician Singapore performance updates

October was a busy month. I was performing mainly close up at various corporate events. One event was a marketing event from Zenith Watches. They invited existing and potential clients to further establish the brand in Singapore. As a special guest, they invited Felix Baumgartner the man who did the free fall from outer space – the motto of the event was achieving the impossible. It was hosted in the warehouse which was nicely set up. Below is a picture of the setup at the entrance.

Next was performances for the Visa award night at the Gardens by the Bay. Somehow my suit and tie matched the overall event…

Then I was working for Neuberger Berman at Boathouse and at an NTUC Income client event. I finished that week at the Hyatt Sunday Brunch performance. I guess I most have done 10 hours of card tricks that week… but I am not complaining… 😉

Performance update – corporate event ideas

Last night I was performing for Wacker Chemie Singapore at the Paulaner Brauhaus. It was the companies 100 year anniversary. Prior to the show the Client and I had a session to come up with corporate event ideas for this special occasion that included Wacker Chemie and the occasion. In the beginning they only wanted me to do close up magic prior and during the dinner at the tables. We decided to have also a quick 5 minute performance on the platform right after the CEO’s introduction speech. I came up with an effect whereby I handed out a sketchpad to the CEO. I borrowed then an iPhone from an audience member who opened the calculator app. Various people in the audience added multiplied subtracted numbers finally one person hit the equal sign. This person read out the number and it matched the number written on the sketchpad. However the number 13101914 also was the date of the foundation of Wacker Chemie 13. October 1914.  The picture below shows the reveal of the number.

Corporate entertainment idea – Visa Awards Night 2014

This week I was engaged to entertain at the Visa Awards Night at Waterview room at Gardens by the Bay. I only performed during the cocktail and photo taking session prior to the dinner for about 1.5 hours. Since the crowd was about 400 people I had to make sure to cover as many as possible. This doesn’t leave much time for each group. I tried to focus on groups of 6 or more and build a crowd during the performance. When a company is looking for a corporate entertainment idea for an event like this they usually require a performer that doesn’t need time to set up or that needs a lot of space. I believe that close up magic is one of the best options since you still have the interaction with the audience and it can be personalized for your company. The picture below was taken at the beginning of the event I think it was my first group.

German Magician Singapore

Last Saturday I performed close-up magic at the Association of Dutch Business people’s annual Gala Dinner. It was hosted at the Tamarind Hill restaurant.  The group consisted of about 150 guests most of them from the Netherlands. One might think that a German magician in Singapore isn’t a good match for a dutch event but even at football matches the 2 groups can celebrate together – just look at the last world cup. The setting for this event was very nice and the guests were receptive to the performance. I like venues where people are seated at big tables from 10-15 this doesn’t feel anymore like a close-up performance but rather a parlor show in a living room. hospitality suite entertainment

Hospitality suite entertainment at the F1 Last weekend was again the F1 in Singapore. A lot of companies, especially banks take this opportunity to connect with their most important clients and invite them to a hospitality suite with great food and usually access to the race or the pre-qualifying. I have in the past provided […]

Corporate magician

I would say 80 percent of my work as a corporate magician is at cocktail parties prior or sometimes during the dinner or party. The advantages of a strolling magicians are clear. The client does not have to reserve a specific slot during dinner where everyone in the audience has to focus on stage. There is no set up and the performance is usually only done for people who want to see something. Last week I was performing at MICE Awards 2014 at Gardens by the Bay at the Flower Field Hall. Below are some pictures that I took before and during the event. Unfortunately no action shots. I hope to get some from a photographer who was taken pictures at the event.

Corporate entertainment Singapore

Axis Bank India was looking for corporate entertainment Singapore. They found my website and I was hired to perform at their Sales Award Dinner last week Saturday at the Swissotel The Stamford in Singapore. They flew in 300 of their top performers from India for a weekend in Singapore. Some of these guys had never been overseas and it was the first trip. I was booked to do a 20 minute stage performance. Since my act doesn’t use any big props but relies on audience interaction, a good sound an light equipment was essential. This was all top notch. The event organizer was Kaleidoscope from India and they handled it great. Axis Bank flew in their Master of Ceremonies as well. The reason was that the audience came from all parts of India and they need someone who could pronounce all the names correctly in the main dialects. The performance went ok but I realized that even so everybody spoke English a lot of my lines fell flat. I believe it due to the fact that the humor is different and comedy and comic lines are a lot subject to education and background. I want to re-script my program to be more descriptive and leave out some of the jokes. Lessons learned. Here is the picture (stage view) of the function room before people came in.

Magician Singapore – corporate event

Magician Singapore performs at MasterCard corporate event

When you work as a corporate Magician Singapore you are sometimes booked for events that are not a regular performance like at party or corporate dinner. I am currently hired by MasterCard to support their launch of a new program called Priceless Surprises.

Basically I have to come out twice an hour and perform a quick bit for the current winner. I sometime think this is not ideal for Magic since you are used as gadget. However I believe it is your job to your best to perform a good show for the client regardless of the setting. During one of the performances I had 2 ladies on the platform with me and their faces were the perfect match for the tagline of the campaign a priceless surprise. I hope that the on site photographer got a snapshot of that. Basically it is important to have fun with any given situation this positive attitude transcends to the people watching and they ‘usually’ like what you do. I will do 4 more of these at Sentosa and at the MasterCard Theater at Marina Bay Sands.

Entertainer for Corporate Event

Apr 11 Lexmark Entertainer for corporate event

Lexmark engaged me to perform at the Lexmark Asia Pacific 2013 Achiever Awards Night. I did 25 minute stage show. We had the objective to transit from the show directly to the Award presentation. I created a prediction effect in which a person from the audience chose freely one of the 15 awardees. I had an envelope in full view from the beginning of the show and it contained a paper with that name. I announced the name the Emcee came up and took over the rest of the presentation. For an event like this it is important that a magician, corporate entertainer focuses on the main objective (incorporation of the Award theme in the show) as much as he focuses on the show. As hard as it is some times the entertainment is not the main part of the event.

Entertainment Corporate Event

Apr 9 Deloitte entertainment corporate event strolling magic

My friend Picasso hired me to perform at a Deloitte corporate event at the Ritz Carlton.  I did 2 hours of strolling magic and shared the gig with Adam Chua a great caricaturist. You can check out his website here . We have worked together at multiple events before but I always forget to ask him to draw a caricature of me. Well, maybe next time. The group consisted of mainly Deloitte tax consultants from all over the world. Not surprisingly I found a bunch of Germans there. Germany has one of the most complicated Tax Laws worldwide and to do your taxes you definitely need a consultant. I prefer Singapore – I can do it on my own.
