Magic Bar Tokyo Japan

In May I was on vacation in Japan to see my wife’s family and for 6 day road trip in Shikoku.  It was a fantastic trip. We rented a car in Shikoku, which is the smallest of the 4 islands and this enabled us to go to  places that you can’t reach with public transportation.

This time in Tokyo we put a visit in one of the city’s magic bar on the agenda. We went to a place in Ginza called Magic Bar Ginza 12 O’clock (マジックバー 銀座十二時 )

The fee is JPY 6000 (about 55 USD) plus tax which comes with an all you can trick ticket for tab beer or selected cocktails. The performances take place on a small stage. You can see 2 shows of about 25 minutes and in between magicians perform magic close up at your table.

The performance is all in Japanese but you will get the effects even with the language barrier. I speak some Japanese and was dragged on stage…

The room caters for about 40 people and it is advisable to make a reservation. Overall we had a really good time and it was good value for the money.

McKinsey hires magician for corporate event

Event: Mar 8 – McKinsey – 85 Employees

Package: Close Up & Personal Show

Corporate events usually take place in the evening at a function room in a hotel or a cocktail bar. This gig was different McKinsey, a global management consulting firm that serves leading businesses and governments hired my services for a lunch event. Events like this remind me a little of indoor busking shows since nobody expects entertainment at lunch. Even though I had a nice introduction, crowd building skills came in handy.

Birthday Party Entertainment

I was hired to perform at a 40th birthday party. The couple was looking for Birthday Party Entertainment that didn’t interrupt the event and could be integrated during the dinner. Stefan was hired to perform the dinner entertainment at the Thomson Reuters kick of event at the Grand Hyatt. He did close up magic during the pre-dinner cocktail reception at the Grand Hyatt. The audience consisted of employees from the APAC region and selected clients.

Total secret corporate event

  • Event: Jan 12 – Client… Can’t tell- Appreciation event – 140 Guest
  • Venue: Four Seasons
  • Package:  Close Up – Roving Magic

This was a very secretive show – no photos allowed, no mentioning of the name of the company online. No exchange of business cards – I felt like being on a secret undercover mission. The performance was a lot of fun and  I met a new performer that is in town.

We had a great chat after the event about performances, magic, and life as a performer. I am looking forward to seeing this Gentleman at other gigs.
